1. Where is this product made?The LivingStep is constructed in the United States by a manufacturing company that is certified to OEM standards. top2. What is the product made of?The step is constructed of steel. It is "E" coated (a process used in automobile parts to keep them from rusting on the insides) as well as "powder" coated (a crinkle coat applied to the top to give further protection from wear and tear). The plastic molding provided with the TGS-11 Surface Mount is blown of High Density Polyethelene. The mold has a textured finish making it slip resistant as well as providing two convenient cup holders. top3. How many moving parts does it have?ONE, the hinge is its only moving part. The hinge is constructed from hardened stainless steel and will not rust. It is not affected from conditions such as sand, snow, or ice. top4. Can I install this myself? How long will it take?The TGS-11 Surface Mount can be independently installed in under 1 hour. A simple step-by-step set of instructions and all mounting hardware is included with the kit. Installation for the TGS-12 Drop In is 2-3 hours professionally installed. top5. If I cut into my tailgate, won't that weaken it?The step is engineered to replace the stability removed by cutting into the gate. top6. Is the LivingStep compatible with truck bed covers, such as the Tonneau, and truck caps?Yes it is compatible with truck bed covers, truck caps, as well as bed liners. top8. How much weight can it support?The LivingStep suggests a 500 lb. weight limit. It is centered to displace weight evenly between both support cables of the tailgate. top9. Will it fit any truck?It will fit any full sized pickup truck, including Ford, Dodge, GMC and Nissan. Some Chevy Avalanches have a thin skin with a tapered cover, which will not accomodate the step. top10. What are the dimensions?The TGS-11 Surface Mount is 2" x 19" x 58" (this includes the plastic molding that accompanies the LivingStep). The original LivingStep TGS-12 Drop In is 19" x 24". top12. Can it be used as a bed extender?Yes. It turns a 6' bed into an 8' bed. Simply close step over load and strap down using the installed holes to hook bungee cords from step to bed anchors. top13. What happens if it gets rained on? Ice? Sand? Mud?The functionality of the LivingStep is NOT affected by weather conditions. top14. Who designed this and when?The LivingStep was designed by a contractor in 2002. It has been tested for 5 years in the field without a single failure or injury. Currently redesigned by a team of engineers, both models are manufactured to OEM standards. top |
